Westjet has introduced a new, non-stop flight from Winnipeg to Halifax. It goes 4 times a week. Prices, tax included & return, are as low as $468.
Air Canada, of course, has matched those prices. However, they don’t have a non-stop flight. You will connect through Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal.
The downside of the non-stop Westjet flight is that it leaves just after midnight, and arrives at 6AM. So, what do you do about hotel? Do you pay for the night “before” and check in at 8am? Or do you wander the streets of Halifax until 3pm when you can check-in to a hotel for that night? You’ll be exhausted and would be a tough way to start a vacation.
You do have lots of options. And in this case, I’d choose to pay retail, over trying to get the flights from points (air miles/aeroplan). Best prices can typically found by flying mid week, so focus your search on Tuesday and Wednesday flights.
With these prices, perhaps this is the year you see Canada’s east coast?
